I managed to accomplish a modest amount of writing in the Month of May, while also dealing with a variety of distracting factors.

The first week or so was spent finishing up editing on my photos from the Colorado Plateau. On the 14th, I also wrote the first installment of a new Writer Reaction series that I hope to keep up. You can find it here.

I also got some more work done on the ongoing rewrite project of The Shadow of the Ruin. I have now passed 100,000 words on the rewrite, and should only have about a month of work remaining (although that month contains more travel, so we’ll see).

My total progress on the rewrite project amounted to:

  • 12 writing days
  • 15 productive hours resulting in 12,279 words written
  • 5 completed chapters

These aren’t great numbers; for a project of 50 chapters and ~130,000 words, they work out to about 10 months of writing. But since I began the rewrite in October of last year and it looks set to finish no earlier than July, I wouldn’t say that’s too far off my steady average of late. Hopefully, once life decides to take a rest and stop coming at me so quickly, I can pick up the pace on my next project…

That’s all for now. If I’m very productive, maybe my next update will be announcing the completion of the rewrite project!
